FFA Soils Team competes at state Miami Valley Today
Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter Competes in Ohio FFA State Urban and Agricultural Soils Career Development Events
The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter participated in the Ohio FFA State Urban and Agricultural Soils Career Development Events on Saturday, Oct. 13.
Event Details
The state contest took place at a farm located north of Plain City. Participants were required to evaluate four soil sites and complete a written test and soil survey test.
Agricultural Soils Event
The agricultural soils event focused on evaluating land for farming purposes, considering risk factors such as soil erosion, soil compaction, water quality, and soil health limitations. In addition, participants were expected to provide suggestions on implementing best management practices.
Team Performance
The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter team placed 33rd out of 50 teams. The team members included Wyatt Black, Gunner Palivec, Cooper Palivec, and Kinsley Courtright. Among the individual participants from Miami East, Wyatt Black achieved the highest placement, ranking 72nd out of 181 participants.

6. Sustainable Development Goal: Clean Water and Sanitation
- Target 6.3: By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater, and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.

9. Sustainable Development Goal: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- Target 9.4: By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.

10. Sustainable Development Goal: Reduced Inequalities
- Target 10.2: By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic, and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, or economic or other status.

12. Sustainable Development Goal: Responsible Consumption and Production
