Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, 7 June 2024 –

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, has held high-level talks with senior officials of Kyrgyzstan, during the first leg of his visit to CIS Countries.

The visit aims to reinforce development cooperation and deepen socio-economic development between the two partners.

Meeting with Kyrgyz President

On the second day of his visit, Dr. Al Jasser was warmly received by the Hon. Kyrgyz President, H.E. Mr. Sadyr Japarov.

The two leaders engaged in extensive discussions on strengthening development cooperation and exploring various national initiatives aimed at accelerating the Kyrgyz Republic’s socioeconomic advancement. H.E. President Japarov commended the deepening partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and IsDB and extended his congratulations on the Bank’s 50th anniversary, highlighting its significant contributions and esteemed status as a globally respected development organization.

Also, during the day, Dr. Al Jasser met with H.E. Mr. Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. Their discussions centered on enhancing ongoing development projects, with a particular focus on renewable energy, education sector advancements, and support for vulnerable populations. Both leaders reviewed the Kyrgyz economy’s performance, acknowledging its progress and potential. They expressed a shared commitment to bolstering the growing relationship between the Kyrgyz Republic and IsDB, emphasizing the crucial role of railroads, logistics, and hydro-energy resources in fostering regional peace and development.

Additionally, H.E. Mr. Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, held productive discussions with Dr. Al Jasser on enhancing cooperation in water resource management, agricultural development, and processing industries. The potential of Kyrgyz farm products as a significant foreign exchange earner was also a focal point of their dialogue.

Earlier in the day, in a separate meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Education & Science, Ms. Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, Dr. Al Jasser reiterated IsDB’s dedication to modernizing the Kyrgyz education system. The discussions emphasized the importance of activating the smart education project, a critical initiative for the country’s future development.
