Local Students Making an Impact on Sustainable Development Goals

For the second consecutive year, a group of students from Imhotep Institute Charter High School are embarking on a special mission to contribute towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Partnership with Philadelphia Eagles

Last year, Imhotep Institute Charter High School partnered with the Philadelphia Eagles on a project aimed at providing drinkable water to a tribe in Ghana. This initiative was successful, and this year, the program has expanded even further.

STEM Education for Sustainable Development

Under the guidance of Shirley Posey, the visionary STEM Director at Imhotep, a group of 28 scholar STEM students will be traveling to Ghana to continue their efforts in sustainable development.

Enhancing Water Filtration Systems

During their trip, the students will utilize their education and skills to enhance water filtration systems in Ghana. By improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems, they aim to provide clean and safe drinking water to communities in need.

Sharing Knowledge of Hydroponics

In addition to water filtration, the students will also share their knowledge of hydroponics with the Ghanaian youth. Hydroponics is a sustainable agricultural method that allows plants to grow without soil, using nutrient-rich water instead. By teaching this technique, the students hope to promote food security and sustainable farming practices.

Collaboration for Sustainability

Furthermore, the Imhotep students will join forces with Ghanaian youth to focus on sustainability. Through collaborative efforts, they will explore innovative solutions and strategies to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in Ghana.
