The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that Canine Odin was called around 5:45 a.m. Sunday to the 37700 block of North Watts Avenue in unincorporated Spring Grove.

The sheriff’s canine was called into action to track down a dangerous suspect who had just battered a victim.

The attack occurred in front of the woman’s children and the suspect fled on foot, sheriff’s officials said.

Prosecutors said the woman had come home after going out with her friends.

A man who she was previously in a relationship was watching their children.

An argument ensued and the man began throwing beer bottles around the home and struck the woman until she began seeing stars, prosecutors said.

The canine found the man hiding nearby and he was taken into custody. He was charged with domestic battery.
