Marlboro Man Convicted of Sexually and Physically Abusing Daughter

FREEHOLD – A Marlboro man has been convicted of sexually and physically abusing his own daughter over the course of more than six years, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Wednesday.

Andrey V. Penkin, 51, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Santiago said.

An investigation by the prosecutor’s office and the Marlboro Township Police found that Penkin began abusing his daughter in 2016, when the family lived in Sayreville, Santiago said. Numerous incidents of sexual abuse followed, both in Sayreville and at their next two residences, in East Brunswick and Marlboro.

Incident of Physical Assault

In early 2023, after finding out she had a friend’s pack of cigarettes, Penkin physically assaulted his daughter, causing a severe concussion and related facial injuries, according to the prosecutor. Penkin was arrested in April 2023.

Evidence Presented at Trial

At trial, the State presented medical records, witness testimony and physical evidence, including the victim’s diary, to prove its case, Santiago said. The jury deliberated for 80 minutes before returning guilty verdicts.

Sentencing and Impact on SDGs

Penkin will face a minimum of 25 years in state prison with no eligibility for parole, in accordance with the provisions of New Jersey’s Jessica Lunsford Act, the prosecutor said. A sentencing hearing date has not yet been set.
