BIXBY, Oklahoma Holds Bestie Bash Event to Support The Demand Project
A special event was held in Bixby, Oklahoma on Saturday night to raise money for The Demand Project, an organization dedicated to stopping crimes such as human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Bestie Bash: Empowering Women and Supporting The Demand Project
Bestie Bash was a girls’ night out event for women aged 21 and older, aimed at raising funds for The Demand Project. The organization’s mission is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By helping victims and survivors and educating the community, The Demand Project works towards ending human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Event Details
The Bestie Bash took place at 181 Ranch, located near 181st and Harvard. Attendees of the event enjoyed access to vendors, food, drinks, raffle prizes, dancing, and more. Tickets to the event included a donation to The Demand Project.
- Individual tickets started at $45
- Group tickets were available for up to $1000
Sarah Frye, the owner of 181 Ranch, is a passionate advocate in the fight against human trafficking. She partners with The Demand Project every year to host Bestie Bash, with all proceeds going towards the organization’s cause. Kirstin Weiss, co-founder and CEO of The Demand Project, expressed her gratitude for Frye’s support.
“At The Demand Project, we prevent, protect, recover, and restore children from human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. It’s such an honor for us to have this event organized by Sarah Frye, as it greatly contributes to our mission,” Weiss stated.
Impact of Fundraising Events
Weiss emphasized the importance of events like Bestie Bash in supporting The Demand Project’s mission and services. The organization runs a 2-year program that provides housing for girls affected by human trafficking.
“Events like this are crucial because we rely on fundraising as a nonprofit organization. We receive funds from events, individual donors, and some grants, but not many. Beneficiary events like Bestie Bash help us provide housing and support for children aged 11 to 17 who have been affected by human trafficking,” Weiss explained.
Upcoming Event: Raising Hope Blue Tie Gala
The Demand Project will also be hosting their Raising Hope Blue Tie Gala on March 23 at the River Spirit Casino, near 71st and Riverside. Weiss mentioned that tickets for the gala are still available as of Saturday night.
