Trypanosome infections such as human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) and Chagas disease are vector-borne parasitic diseases transmitted by insects, that affect millions of individuals in tropical and subtropical regions. Therapeutic options are limited and infection can be fatal. Writing in Science, Rao et al. identify a new class of cyanotriazoles (CTs), which display potent and rapid trypanocidal activity in mouse models of HAT and Chagas disease.
