Plan Announced to Build National Circularity Centre in Bega, New South Wales
A plan has been announced to construct a centre in Bega, New South Wales that will focus on the development of circular economies. The aim is for Bega to become home to the state’s most advanced circular economy by 2030.

The state government has committed $14 million to the $19m National Circularity Centre (NCC) project, while the Bega Group will contribute the remaining $5m and provide the land for the Cox Architecture-designed building.
The NCC will serve as a hub for research and development of economic models based on sustainability. In addition, it will offer food, information for visitors, and host events.
Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty stated, “This project is a great example of government, education, private businesses, and Indigenous organisations working together in a multi-purpose space to create smart jobs and new business opportunities for people living and working in Bega and surrounding areas.”
Centre to Showcase Sustainable Development Goals
The Bega Group executive chair, Barry Irvin, believes that the centre will attract domestic and international visitors. He stated, “It will be a great centre of collaboration where we bring together people from all walks of life, with the best of technology, education, and resource management and say, ‘This is how you run a region that is truly focused on a sustainable future.'”
The centre aims to showcase practical examples of sustainability in real-time through live streaming from various project sites. This will help people understand the environmental, economic, and social benefits of adopting circular economy practices.
