Local environmental community groups, the Deakin Ecological Collective and 3220 Beach Patrol, are organizing a free event called Everything Aquatic. The event is spearheaded by Juliet Doling, a 22-year-old Deakin honours student who moved to Geelong from Vietnam in 2022. She was inspired by Geelong’s people and places to organize this event.
Juliet Doling is not only a student but also an active member of various community organizations. These include Geelong Beach Patrol, Corangamite Catchment Authority, Deakin’s Water Watch, the Australian Microplastic Assessment Project, and Study Geelong.
Importance of Collaboration
Juliet Doling believes that it is important for different environmental groups in Geelong to work together. She noticed that although these groups were individually working towards helping the environment, there was a lack of interlinking between them. By organizing Everything Aquatic, she aims to bridge this gap and promote collaboration among these groups.
