The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding and strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan in order to promote sustainable infrastructure development. Baibazarov, who also serves as the AIIB governor, signed a joint declaration with AIIB Vice President Konstantin Limitovskiy to develop a three-year investment plan. This plan will identify potential sectors and projects for financing, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the meeting, Baibazarov expressed his appreciation for the prospects of further cooperation with the AIIB. He emphasized that Kazakhstan is entering a new investment cycle and has several major projects that are attractive for both international financial institutions and private investors.

The joint declaration between the AIIB and Kazakhstan highlights the importance of promoting green infrastructure, connectivity, and regional cooperation. It also emphasizes the need to advance technology-enabled infrastructure, mobilize private capital, and create an enabling environment for private sector participation.

Limitovskiy, recognizing Kazakhstan’s significant role as a founding member of the AIIB, expressed the bank’s commitment to contribute to the successful implementation of Kazakhstan’s national development plan until 2029. The AIIB also aims to support Kazakhstan’s decarbonization ambitions, with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2060.
