Addressing Sexual Assault through Research and Collaboration

During the second week of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), the Campus Collaborative Against Sexual Assault, in collaboration with the Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, is organizing a panel discussion to address sexual assault. This event aims to raise awareness and engage with current researchers working towards combating sexual violence.

Panel Discussion and Meet and Greet

The panel discussion will take place today, Wednesday, April 10, at 4 p.m. in Waterman Hall 240 (E.J. Ball Courtroom, Leflar Law Center). The panelists include University of Arkansas faculty members who are renowned for their research and contributions to knowledge about sexual violence. A meet and greet reception will immediately follow the panel discussion.

Featured Faculty Panelists

  • Shristi Bhochhibhoya – Assistant Professor in the Public Health Program. Research interests include social determinants of health and health disparities, particularly within the context of adolescent sexual health and relationship violence.
  • Lindsay S. Ham – Professor of Psychological Science and licensed psychologist. Director of the Alcohol Research Lab, focusing on understanding the challenges individuals and groups face in situations involving alcohol and its intersection with sexual violence.
  • Jackie Mosley – Professor and Assistant Dean of Bumpers College. Research program focuses on risk factors for victimization, including marginalized populations, various systems of campus sexual assault, and cultural competence.
  • Lauren Copley Sabon – Teaching Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminology. Concentrates on the role of informal social networks in the recruiting of sex workers and the socio-legal context of sex trafficking.

Engaging the Campus Community

Throughout SAAM, a display of library materials addressing sexual assault can be found at Mullins Library. The campus community is encouraged to participate in Teal Tuesday by wearing teal on Tuesdays as a show of solidarity against sexual assault.
