Sustainable Farming Practices on Schiermonnikoog Island

A group of farmers on Schiermonnikoog Island have initiated the project ‘Biodiversity Farming on Schiermonnikoog’ to promote sustainable farming practices and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through various measures, they aim to reduce nitrogen emissions and protect biodiversity. One of their key actions has been voluntarily reducing their livestock population by over a third. Additionally, they have established the dairy cooperative, Van Schier.
