Study Reveals Conservative Party Voters’ Beliefs on Climate Change

A recent study conducted by the Angus Reid Institute has shed light on the beliefs of Conservative Party of Canada voters regarding climate change. The study found that only 33% of Conservative voters acknowledge that man-made climate change is real and believe that climate change is a fact mostly caused by human activities.

Contrasting Views Among Political Parties

The study revealed a significant difference in beliefs among supporters of different political parties. While 89% of Liberal voters, 90% of NDP voters, 78% of Bloc Québécois voters, and 77% of Green Party voters believe that climate change is mostly caused by human activities, only 33% of Conservative voters share this belief.

On the other hand, 49% of Conservative Party voters attribute climate change to “natural changes and cycles,” while 13% outright deny that climate change is happening at all.

Overall Canadian Perspective

Across Canada, 62% of Canadians believe that climate change is a fact and is mostly caused by human activities.

Education and Climate Change Denial

The study also found a correlation between education level and beliefs about climate change. Among high school graduates, 54% acknowledge that climate change is mostly caused by human activities. In contrast, 78% of university graduates hold the same belief. This suggests that denial of climate change decreases with higher education.
