The Urgency of Climate Action: UN Warns of 3˚C Global Temperature Rise

The United Nations (UN) has recently issued a warning that the world is on track for a “hellish 3˚C global temperature rise.” Current trends indicate a rise of 2.5°C to 2.9°C by the end of the century, according to the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA).

The ADBA emphasizes that if climate change is not addressed, the impacts on global supply chains will be significantly greater than those caused by the war in Ukraine.

Recognizing the economic cost of inaction against climate change, businesses are sounding the alarm. In a geopolitically unstable world, addressing climate change becomes the top priority. ADBA highlights the need for nations to develop technologies that maximize their available resources.

ADBA National Conference 2023: Anaerobic Digestion – The Imperative for Resource Resilience

ADBA has organized the ADBA National Conference 2023, which will take place on December 6th in London. The conference aims to provide insights into anaerobic digestion and its role in achieving resource resilience.

The conference will be headlined by Lord Callanan, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance) at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Former Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne, now Chair of ADBA, will serve as the conference chair.

Chris Huhne states, “The issue for green gas is no longer whether the sector will grow, but how quickly.” He highlights the urgency of capturing organic waste and transforming it into green gas and biofertilizer to address climate change.

The conference will shed light on the sector’s contribution to energy security and net zero, and whether the UK will align with the International Energy Agency’s projected 8 to 22% annual global growth.
