Teller County Fire Chief Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges
TELLER COUNTY, Colo. — The leader of a fire department in Teller County has been arrested on domestic violence charges.
Fire Chief Chris Hawkins
Chris Hawkins, 41, is the fire chief at Four Mile Fire Protection District in Florissant and has served with the department since February 2022, according to their website.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Court records show Hawkins was arrested last week in connection with an incident that happened in January. Charges include harassment, obstructing telephone service, and false emergency-fake crime. All of the charges are misdemeanors.
Teller County Combined Court confirmed to 9NEWS that Hawkins was advised on Monday of domestic violence charges.
Current Status and Next Court Appearance
Hawkins’ next court appearance is scheduled for April 22. Jeff Carnahan, President of the board for Four Mile Fire Protection District, said Hawkins remains on duty and there is no change to his status at this time. So far they have not launched an internal investigation but are monitoring the situation.
