Introduction

On 17 November, the Portrait of Lake Child Initiative launched an advocacy campaign in Yobe State, Nigeria, with the aim of raising awareness about cervical cancer among adolescent girls in 10 senior secondary schools. This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s recent introduction of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine into its routine immunization programme, which aims to vaccinate 7.7 million girls using a 1-dose schedule.
