The Kilgore College Adult Education and Literacy Program Inducts Students into the National Adult Education Honor Society

The Kilgore College Adult Education and Literacy program recently held its 21st annual induction ceremony for the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS). The ceremony took place on April 18 and included students from Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties.

Guest Speaker: Ivonne Maldonado

The guest speaker at the ceremony was Ivonne Maldonado, a former star student of the KC-AEL program. Maldonado was born in Mexico in 1986 and has achieved great success in her educational and professional journey. She earned a bachelor’s degree in International Trade and a master’s degree in Finance in Mexico. She worked as an executive banker and business owner before moving to Texas in 2017.

In Texas, Maldonado worked as a student worker and substitute teacher while pursuing her college degrees in the United States. She successfully earned an associate’s degree from Kilgore College and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education at UT Tyler. Maldonado currently teaches Spanish GED in the KC-AEL program, serves as an ESL paraprofessional for Kilgore ISD, and works as an academic coach for UT Academy (Summer School).
