COP30: Green groups urge governments to crack down on shipping emissions
BusinessGreen says a coalition of environmental groups is using the run-up to COP30 to press governments to get tougher on maritime pollution by adopting national plans that cut shipping emissions. Their push follows controversy over reported U.S. efforts to stall stricter international rules for a global Net Zero Framework at the UN’s shipping body. The groups want countries to complement IMO-level targets with domestic policies, finance, and infrastructure that accelerate cleaner ships and fuels, and to show greater ambition in upcoming negotiations.
