The warm, natural light of the sun streams into the room through the windows, revealing the faces of the young students deep in concentration on their studies. All of the kids are paying attention to the teacher, who is standing tall and composed while she teaches. The scenario serves as a testament to the evolution of education, showing how learning flourishes in spite of the modest circumstances and few resources.
Resilience is emphasized in the wall posters, and this classroom exemplifies this trait. The community’s commitment to education as a strategy for overcoming obstacles may be reflected in the subject of resilience. The plants on the windowsills, growing under the school’s loving care, represent the pupils’ potential and progress. Just as the educational system it represents is strong against the larger issues faced by the community, so too does the classroom’s bamboo and wooden framework withstand the elements.
